About Me

I’m a writer, researcher, musician, and activist.

The goal of my writing is to help people visualize a better society and how to build it. I aim to make my writing accessible, while not shying away from looking deeply at the “why” behind political events. Sometimes I use statistics in my writing; other times I write from my direct experience in party and non-party politics. I believe in writing objectively and fairly, but I don’t believe “neutrality” is achievable or of value.

Political disclosures: I was a member of the Green Party of Canada from 2004–2017, and a candidate in the 2015 federal election in the riding of Brampton Centre. In 2017 I was briefly a member of the NDP (they sent too many donation emails). I was a member of the Green Party again from 2020–2022. Since then, I haven’t been a member of any electoral party.

As for my music, it has nothing to do with my political writing, other than it keeps me sane so I can keep going.
