I’m a political writer, activist, and researcher. My goal is to help people visualize a better society, along with ways of achieving it. This means I sometimes write about abstract topics, like our society’s values and ways of doing things, and other times I write about concrete topics like the mechanics of our electoral system. I aim to write with journalistic and statistical rigor, but I don’t believe in “neutrality”—all writing embeds specific values, whether spoken or not.
I’m not presently a member of any political party. I was a member of the Green Party of Canada from 2004–2017 and 2020–2022 and a candidate in the riding of Brampton Centre in 2015. I was briefly a member of the NDP in 2017.
